The Story of Pituq

A decade of change, challenges, and new beginnings.

September 2015 — Gili Trawangan

Pituq first opened its doors, becoming one of the first vegan restaurants in the Lombok region. From the beginning, our goal was simple: to show both locals and travelers that plant-based food could be healthy, nourishing, creative, and full of flavour.

March 2018 — Pituq Waroeng

We opened our second restaurant, continuing the same philosophy while exploring the rich and diverse flavours of Indonesian cuisine through a vegan approach.

2018 — The Earthquakes

The Lombok earthquakes changed everything. Our original restaurant was forced to close, and two years later, the COVID-19 pandemic brought another unexpected closure to Pituq Waroeng.

2020 — But Pituq Continued

During the lockdowns, we began organizing grocery deliveries to the local community. At the same time, we started producing some of the foods our customers had come to love in our kitchens — including our sauces, nut butters, snacks, and frozen treats — and delivering them directly to people's homes. What began as a way to keep Pituq going during difficult times became the beginning of something new: Pituq as a food brand.

Today — Gili Air

When restrictions were finally lifted, Pituq found a new home on Gili Air. Today, our restaurant continues to bring people together around wholesome, flavourful food, while our growing range of products reaches beyond the restaurant to homes, retailers, restaurants, and hospitality businesses.

After more than a decade of change, challenges, and new beginnings, Pituq is still evolving — but our original belief remains the same:

"Good food should be nourishing, full of flavour, and made to be shared to bring people together."
